in the black room

This body of work is what I would consider my passion project. In the Black Room is a collection of photos that I shot on film, hand-printed in the darkroom, and then altered digitally. After scanning in the prints, I digitally layer designs, drawings, personal pieces of poetry, or song lyrics on them. This has become my favorite method of self-expression and has influenced the style of the rest of my creative work as a whole. I decided to call this collection of work In the Black Room since almost every piece here was made while I was sitting in UNA's darkroom late at night chatting with friends and waiting for my negatives to dry. Those late nights in the darkroom with my classmates were formative experiences throughout my college years that had a huge impact on who I am today-- not only creatively, but personally, as well.
